Services

Services offered by Remix to Lead Consulting are geared toward your specific needs and timeline. There are three main areas of support we offer related to higher education and arts education. Service packages are determined per case basis and can be sliding scale to fit the budget of your organization. A network of practitioners, researchers, and scholars are involved in each consulting package dependent on the needs of the client. We believe equity in education and higher education is a must and we care deeply about the success of all investors in the education of others. We encourage you to reach out with any specific questions or requests.

Are you worried there is more you could or should be doing about your internal decision-making or organizational content when it comes to race, gender, musical diversity, or general equity? Whether you are an arts organization, K-12 school, or higher education music program, we are here to help guide your path to more equitable curriculum, processes, and outcomes. Through a research-based approach to program evaluation, we will survey documents, events, data, and staff to understand areas of need and improvement. Using strengths already established in your organization, we will offer realistic and comprehensive recommendations suited for what you offer, how you operate, and your desired outcomes. Feedback can be provided within specific frameworks like anti-racism, decolonizing methodologies, critical race theory, or culturally responsive teaching, as well as general considerations around neurodivergence and gender inclusivity, alongside many others. Our goal is comprehensive options for you to feel confident about next steps.

If you are looking to expand the music curriculum or experiences you offer, whether starting fresh or making additions to already established programs, we are here to help. We specialize in globally diverse music teaching and learning, music listening as music learning, intercultural competence and wellbeing development through music, as well as student-centered curriculum design and teaching improvisation. We are happy to work with specific requests or anything as vague as "we don't know what we want yet." Part of our goal is to reduce anxiety and fear around culturally unfamiliar music while providing increased access to equitable music learning wherever we can. We are happy to serve music departments, arts organizations, and especially entities dedicated specifically to music education. Program development for you could be as easy as an outline of recommended content, or fully fleshed out year-long curriculum. Come to us with any questions and we are happy to help.

We believe that part of the source of change in education at large lies in empowering students while modeling equitable, collaborative environments which allow students to be involved in decisions made about them. While we specialize in higher education student representative committees and multi-departmental decision-making bodies, we are happy to help others as well. Primarily, we offer guidance on the development of a student committee or Senate, creating realistic expectations for them and yourself as faculty or staff, how to best guide the committee neutrally, creating shared goals, eliminating negative faculty colleague misunderstandings, how change is accomplished and measured, making departmental decisions with consideration to student input, the first few months of self-governance, and transitioning from year one to year two and beyond. If you see that students could have more of a voice in your school or department, we can offer a manageable path forward.
